When the Relationship With Your Child Feels Broken or Just Too Hard
Parenting is one of the most demanding roles a person can take on — and also one of the least supported. When the relationship with your child becomes a source of chronic stress, conflict, disconnection, or pain, it affects every area of your life.
I work with parents and children — and the relationship between them — to rebuild communication, restore connection, and create healthier dynamics at home. Whether your child is young, a teenager, or a young adult, conflict in the parent-child relationship is something that can be worked on. It does not have to stay this way.

What Brings Families to Therapy
Some families come to me in crisis — a child who has shut down, a teenager who is explosive, a young adult who has cut off contact. Others come earlier, sensing that the patterns they have developed are not sustainable and wanting to shift them before they calcify.
Common situations I work with include:
- Persistent conflict, power struggles, or communication breakdown
- A child or teenager who is withdrawn, defiant, or struggling emotionally
- Parent-child conflict following divorce or family transition
- Young adults and parents navigating boundaries and independence
- Parents who feel they have lost connection with their child
- Blended family dynamics and stepparent-child relationships
- Children struggling with anxiety, school stress, or social difficulties
How I Work With Children and Families
For children, I use play therapy techniques — a developmentally appropriate way for children to process and express what they are experiencing when words are not enough. For adolescents and young adults, I use talk therapy, CBT, and solution-focused approaches tailored to where they are developmentally.
For parents, I work on understanding their child’s experience, examining their own patterns and responses, and building practical tools for communication and connection. Often I work with both the parent and child individually as well as together — because the relationship needs work on both sides.
Parenting Is Not About Being Perfect — It Is About Being Present
With over 20 years of experience specializing in parenting, parent-child conflict, and family dynamics, I bring both clinical expertise and genuine compassion to this work. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Stamford, CT, serving families throughout Fairfield County — including Greenwich, Darien, New Canaan, and Rowayton.
The goal is not a perfect family. It is a family that communicates honestly, repairs ruptures, and genuinely enjoys being together. That is achievable — with the right support.
